What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember your choices and help us understand how the site is being used so we can improve it.

The patient portal does not use these cookies

Once you log in to the patient portal at portal.focusmindworks.co.nz, no advertising or analytics cookies are set on your device by us. We deliberately keep the portal free of marketing tracking so your clinical activity is never shared with advertising platforms.

The categories we use

Our consent banner groups cookies into the following categories. Everything except essential is off by default until you choose otherwise.

Essential

These cookies are required for the website to function — for example, remembering your consent choice and protecting forms from abuse. They cannot be turned off.

  • fmw_consent — stores the consent choice you made on this site (12 months).
  • Security and session cookies used by our hosting and form tooling.

Analytics

Helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We do not collect personal health information through analytics.

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures pages visited, referrers, and aggregated visitor counts. Cookies set: _ga, _ga_* (typically 13 months).

Advertising cookies

Allow us to measure whether ads on platforms such as Google, Meta, and LinkedIn led you to our site.

  • Google Ads — measurement and remarketing (_gcl_*, NID).
  • Meta (Facebook / Instagram) — Meta Pixel cookies (_fbp, _fbc) used for conversion measurement.
  • LinkedIn — Insight Tag cookies (li_fat_id, bcookie) used for conversion measurement.

Sharing with advertising platforms

Lets us share basic, non-clinical signals with advertising platforms — such as a click ID — so we can measure which campaigns work. We do not share names, contact details, or answers to any health questions for this purpose.

Personalised advertising

Allows advertising platforms to personalise the ads you see elsewhere on the web based on your interest in our services. Turning this off does not stop you seeing ads — it just means they will not be personalised.

How to change your preferences

You can change your choice at any time:

  • Use the link (also available in our footer).
  • Clear cookies in your browser to be shown the banner again on your next visit.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some essential cookies are needed for forms and security; disabling them may stop parts of the site working.

How long we keep this information

  • Your consent choice is stored for 12 months in the fmw_consent cookie.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies use the retention periods set by each platform (typically up to 13 months for Google Analytics, 90 days for Meta and LinkedIn).
  • Reports built from this data are kept by Focus Mindworks for no longer than necessary for the purposes set out in our Privacy Policy.
